Every year in the small central Vermont town of Tunbridge, a World's
Fair is held; it's actually a rural county fair, with rides, demolition
derbys and cotton candy but it still called the Tunbridge World's
Fair. In 1999 I went there and tried to capture what I saw in
a series of three paintings.
This is the first painting I did that treats the surface as a two-dimensional
field. Figures are placed on the canvas in an interesting arrangement,
but without any sense of perspective or trying to make a three-dimensional
scene.
