This painting is based on a photograph I took when my family visited Florence, Italy several years ago during which we stayed in an apartment on this curved road, the Via Torte, only a block away from Santa Croce. With all the great artwork in Florence, it was not too hard to imagine several Botticelli figures moving around on the streets, while the wispy figure protruding from the building on the right is from the statue "Perseus Holding the Head of Medusa" by Cellini.
