A rocket stands poised to explore; around it are boxes showing each
of the other eight planets in our solar system. The young dancer has
her arms raised in celebration. Above, an ancient frieze shows a more
belligerent side of our nature and hints at the gods and goddesses for
which our fellow planets were named.

Humans have always fascinated me. They make great art, music, laws;
they love deeply and yet they also seem capable of doing so many
destructive things. We humans, in this tiny corner of the universe,
also seek to reach out and understand the workings of this vast
universe, even trying to understand how it came into being over
fourteen billion years ago. This painting seeks to celebrate that
curiosity and drive for knowledge.
